WERI's key areas of scientific and academic activities are the world economy and its influence on the Polish economy; global aspects of economic development; foreign trade and foreign direct investment; international economic relations and their impact on the development of the Polish economy; major problems of transition in Central Europe and Eastern Europe; and the economies of the United States, Germany, Russia, and the Baltic States. Teaching, advisory, and publishing activities are pursued in these areas. The mission of WERI, an internal unit of Warsaw School of Economics, is the study of developments and processes in the sphere of international economics, with special emphasis on how these affect the Polish economy.

PISM's mission is to serve the bodies of national authority, as well as Polish society, through participation in the foreign policy-making process, deepening and broadening knowledge of international affairs. The tasks of the institute include (1) scientific research in the areas of international affairs; (2) the preparation of analyses, expert reports, and forecast studies; (3) the professional advancement of those working in the area of international affairs and foreign policy for the Republic of Poland; (4) the dissemination in Polish society of knowledge in the area of contemporary international affairs; (5) maintaining contact with academic, scientific, and political centers in Poland and abroad; (6) the collection of specialist publications and scientific documentation as well as maintaining open-access library activities; and (7) a range of publishing activities.

IBnGR was set up in order to build a dynamic market economy and a stable democratic order in Poland. The institute formulates policies for national transformation, monitors these processes, and disseminates its ideas and research among policy makers and the general public. In addition the institute is involved in educational activities. IBnGR fulfills its mission by observing and analyzing economic processes, formulating postulates regarding economic policy, and educating financial sector personnel. Research results are aimed at economic and scientific circles, politicians, public administrators and, above all, the public at large. Institute analyses are publicized in widely accessible reports, during seminars and at press conferences.

CASE focuses on the transition process in Central Europe, Eastern Europe, the Transcaucasus, and Central Asia; European integration; and the global economy. An important regional center, CASE replicates its knowledge and experience through the creation of daughter organizations, thus helping to create a network of independent research institutes across postcommunist countries. CASE is also a cofounder of a regional network of think tanks and other organizations. CASE's activities focus on conducting policy research and advisory projects, disseminating research results and economic knowledge, providing public education, and training. Advisory activities cover the following areas: complex economic advisory projects, short-term advisory missions, technical assistance, and evaluation projects. CASE also organizes workshops, seminars, and study tours, and its interdisciplinary projects, which take theoretical problems and propose concrete solutions in the areas of economic and social policy and are aimed at actual practitioners, forming the unique character of its research work.

CSM dedicates to the study of Polish foreign policy and international political issues, which are of crucial importance to Poland's development. CSM's primary objectives are to (1) offer political counseling; (2) illustrate Poland's current international situation; and (3) continuously monitor the government's foreign policy activities. CSM prepares reports and analyses, holds conferences and seminars, publishes books and articles, carries out research projects, and supports working groups. CSM cooperates with a number of experts and has built up a forum for foreign policy debate for politicians, members of parliament, civil servants, local government officials, journalists, academics, students, and representatives of other NGOs. CSM is convinced that, given the foreign policy challenges Poland is facing today, support for public debate on international issues in Poland is of vital importance.

ASRC, a nonpartisan, nonpolitical foundation, acts as a combination of think tank and public policy institute. ASRC's mission is to promote the benefits of a free market and a free, responsible society based on moral foundations. The center studies and promotes the principles and ethics of a free market and supports the building and development of a market economy. ASRC's programs focus on carrying out research and educational projects (e.g., books, TV programs), and analyses and expertise, including draft registration.
